---- — CLINTON — Ashford University plans to add a 3,000-square-foot locker room and restroom facility to its athletic field.
“It’s a finishing touch to a field that we didn’t have time to complete before,” Ashford University Vice President and Campus Director John Ballheim said.
Ashford and visiting athletes will have access to locker rooms, showers and restrooms. Spectators also will have access to restrooms and a new concession stand.
The small addition will be a freestanding building adjacent to the soccer field on the university’s south campus at 1650 14th Ave. South. Pending permit approval, officials plan to break ground for the facility by May.
“This is adding what is usually part of an athletic field,” Ballheim said.
Ballheim and Ashford University Director of Facilities Floyd Young said the project is expected to take four months.
“It’s that finishing touch,” Young said.
