---- — CLINTON — A Clinton man will serve probation for stealing a woman’s credit card and car.

Anton R. Kunavich, 26, 3009 N. Third St., pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted burglary, credit card fraud and operation of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

He was ordered to serve as much as two years in prison for each charge, to be served consecutively, with the incarceration being suspended. He also was fined $625 for each charge.

According to court documents, Rose and Dan McEleney allowed Kunavich to sleep on their couch one night. On June 15, the couple reported that the defendant took their credit card and their 2006 Chrysler Sebring without permission during the night and purchased $1,500 of merchandise at Wal-Mart.

According to the affidavit, this included an iPad, a Sony PS3, a PS3 game and a television.

The affidavit continues that when Kunavich returned to the house, the McEleneys told him he had to leave and Rose noticed that her credit card was missing and her car was damaged. At 10:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the residence after the McEleneys’ son returned to find Kunavich in the house.

Officers found him at the victim’s computer, with the stolen credit card, purchasing items from eBay, according to court documents. The porch screen had been removed and the door handle had been broken off.
