CLINTON — Plans are continuing at the Clinton County Area Solid Waste Agency to investigate a contract for glass recycling.
Director of Operations and Education Brad Seward on Thursday told the CCASWA board that he is still working with Ripple Glass to see if the Kansas City, Mo., company is interested in accepting glass from the organization. The CCASWA agency has not been recycling any glass coming in for the past few years, due to the cost most companies expect the agency to pay.
Instead, glass has been used as part of the cover for the landfill.
Seward is looking into ideas on where to store the glass for Ripple Glass. One suggestion was to create a bunker in the former bio reactor. Another was to make a space by the truck docks.
Members of the board asked if Ripple Glass would consider staging a roll-off, or dumpster box. Seward will bring that idea to a representative of the company. He hopes to have to matter resolved by fall.
