---- — CLINTON — The city of Clinton will host a public meeting regarding Prospect Avenue construction Wednesday at Clinton City Hall.

The public information meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in City Council chambers at Clinton City Hall.

The purpose of the meeting is to inform area residents of the ongoing project and answer any questions related to its construction, including garbage pickup.

Beginning Thursday, Prospect Avenue, Sabula Avenue, Chancy Street and Wallace Street will be fully closed to traffic, except for in emergency situations. Residents will be asked to park on side streets during earthwork construction, which will take place from Thursday to July 3.

Residents are invited to let the city know of special accommodations that will need to be made to access their homes.

According to a press release issued by the city's engineering department, the contractor will make every attempt to allow access, but it will be impossible at times.

The work during this time period will consist of removal of pavement, grading, reclamation and fly ash stabilization. This schedule is contingent on weather.

Portions of the roads will be open again to local traffic only aroundJuly 3.

All utility relocation has been completed by Iowa American Water, Century Link telephone and Alliant Energy. Additionally, storm and sanitary sewer construction will be substantially complete by the end of this week.

The contractor currently is working at the intersection of Chancy Street and Sabula Avenue and will continue up Wallace Street this week. Residents might have noticed the open tops on most concrete storm structures. This is something the contractor has been notified of, and will be rectified by Wednesday afternoon.

Residents unable to attend this public meeting who have comments can submit them in writing to Jason Craft, City Engineer, City of Clinton Engineering Department, 611 S. Third St., Clinton IA, 52732. Questions and concerns can be directed to the engineering department at (563) 244-3423.
