CLINTON — The Clinton County Board of Supervisors approved a $5,000 settlement to a Emergency Management employee who resigned, effective Sept. 16.
Doyle Kirk started as the operations manager of the department on July 18. Emergency Management Coordinator Chance Kness could not comment on why Kirk resigned.
According to a settlement agreement signed by Kirk and Clinton County Emergency Management Commission Chairman Brian Schmidt, Kirk acknowledged the county has no liability to him and agrees not to sue the county for breach of contract or by other claims.
An amount of $5,000 will be paid to Kirk per the agreement, with $4,000 for him and $1,000 for his attorney.
As part of the agreement, the county also agreed to give Kirk a letter of reference, if requested. His personnel file will be treated as confidential, in accordance with county, state of Iowa and federal statutes and guidelines.
The Board of Supervisors officially approved the resignation on Sept. 23.
