Meeting Watch: Clinton County Board of Supervisors

CLINTON — The Clinton County Board of Supervisors met on Monday at the county administration building. The following occurred:

• The board approved a tax suspension request from Laura Bickford for property at 842 13th Ave. South, under a provision of the Code of Iowa, section 427.9.

• The board approved a tax suspension request from Donna F. Otten for property at 1215 Eighth Ave. North, under a provision of the Code of Iowa, section 427.9.

• The board approved a tax suspension request from Finis Drake for property at 746 13th Ave. South, under a provision of the Code of Iowa, section 427.9.

• The board approved a tax suspension request from Malia G. Ackerland for property at 516 Argyle Court, under a provision of the Code of Iowa, section 427.9.

• A correction and refund was approved for a property tax penalty issued to Tracy Dickey.

• The board approved payment of sewer charges to the city of Charlotte.

• A public hearing was set for 10 a.m. June 10 concerning the final plat approval request from Mike Kopp for Outback Subdivision one.

• The board approved a policy for purchase of a right of way by County Engineer Todd Kinney.

• Supervisor John Staszewski made a motion to authorize the signing of utility permit 10-63 for Eastern Iowa Light and Power to bore underground electrical lines within the county right of way along 210th Avenue in Sections 13 and 14 of Grant Township.

• A public hearing was held on a proposed budget amendment for the current fiscal year. No comments were offered and it was quickly closed. The amendment was approved.

• County Auditor Eric Van Lancker informed the board the county will receive a check from its insurance pool for $26,780.47 because all of the members have had a “positive overall loss experience.” Supervisor Brian Schmidt thanked the members of the Risk Committee for making this possible.

• The board discussed the possibility of moving toward the paperless filing of manure management documents.
