Shop offers alternative to cigarettes

CLINTON — Having a quick cigarette break has taken on a whole new meaning in the 21st century, and one local business woman is doing her part to join the growing trend of electronic cigarettes.

Enter the Vapor Stop, owned and operated by Kathy Aberle-Heiar, Clinton's newest alternative cigarette vendor.

If it's variety that consumers are looking for, though, finding it at the Vapor Stop is not a reality because Aberle-Heiar only carries a small assortment of devices to make the decision a little easier for the newcomers to the vaping world.

"I don't carry a big variety because I think people will get confused," Aberle-Heiar said. "This is the best product on the market, hands down, and this is what I want to provide for my customers."

That product — the Itazte VV — is a vaping device that allows an alternative to standard nicotine cigarettes. Although the initial cost is higher than a pack of cigarettes found at a local convenience or grocery store, Aberle-Heiar said the $65 set, including a battery, juice cartridge and two heating coils is worth the end result.

As a former smoker herself, Aberle-Heiar took the Itazte VV challenge and has been smoke free for more than six months, which is why she decided to open the Vapor Stop to promote the product to others like her.

"I quit smoking in the middle of the afternoon and went to this," Aberle-Heiar. "Now, I have no desire to pick up a cigarette and I was a smoker for 37 years."

Her passion for the product that she's selling is one reason Aberle-Heiar is feeling confident about her new business venture on Second Street in Clinton. She's also happy with the reception she has seen from the Clinton consumer base since her silent opening Jan. 14.

She hopes the enthusiasm she has seen in the short time since her opening will ensure that she has a long and successful business life in downtown Clinton.

"I hope the community continues to support the businesses downtown and that my shop becomes one of those long-standing successes here," Aberle-Heiar said. "I just really believe in this product and I want to share it with the people of Clinton."
