Search for escapees ends

CLINTON — Law enforcement officials this weekend captured two men who escaped Clinton County jail Saturday.

Kendrell Keith, 18, was captured by Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies at 11:49 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Camanche Avenue.

Kyle Julian, 18, was caught at 12:20 a.m. this morning in a vehicle on U.S. 30 just west of Lowden in Cedar County.

Keith is being held in the Clinton County jail on a warrant for escape from custody. Keith is being held on $5,000 cash-only bond. He appeared Sunday in court.

Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln said several local law enforcement agencies contributed in capturing the escapees.

“I am very pleased to have both escapees back into our custody,” Lincoln said. “I am also very proud of the working relationship we have with all of our neighboring law enforcement agencies who quickly came together to assist us with the manpower needed to bring this incident to a successful resolution.”

Keith and Julian escaped from Clinton County jail at 4:40 p.m. Saturday. Clinton Police officers and deputies from the Clinton County Sheriff’s office originally were conducting a search in an area north of the jail based on citizens’ reports seeing two men running that direction located in the 200 block of Seventh Avenue North shortly after the escape.

Some orange-colored clothing was found in the area.

Keith was being held on second-degree theft charges, a class D felony.

Julian was being held for probation violation, a class D felony.
