Clinton woman injured in motorcycle accident

CLINTON — A Clinton woman was injured Monday afternoon when she was ejected from her motorcycle after it struck a car. 

Clinton Police responded to a car versus motorcycle crash at 4:12 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue North.

According to Clinton Police Sgt. Steven Kopp, Karla Trude, 45, of Clinton, was driving a 2008 Aeolus 260 motorcycle northbound on North Bluff Boulevard. When Trude rounded the curve at Seventh Avenue North eastbound, her motorcycle veered into the westbound lane and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Shannon Bell, 29, of Clinton.

The motorcycle struck the Malibu on the left rear passenger door, ejecting Trude, who was not wearing a helmet, onto the pavement.

Trude was transported to Mercy Medical Center by the Clinton Fire Department and was then transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. No information on Trude's current condition was given.

Bell, the driver of the Malibu, was not injured.

No citations have been issued. The crash remains under investigation.

Emergency personnel at the scene included Clinton Police, Clinton fire and Iowa State Patrol.
