Clinton dealership to build new facility

CLINTON — The Clinton Auto Group is expanding to a new $3.5 million location in May 2013.

Construction on the new facility at the northeast corner of Mill Creek Parkway and Valley West Drive near Wild Rose Casino will begin in September.

The 6.88-acre property the group purchased, which is more than two times the size of the current facility, will allow them to add a car wash, increase inventory and enhance the customer’s experience, according to co-owner Craig Miller.

They will continue to offer Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, Nissan, Lincoln and Jeep vehicles, financing and vehicle maintenance services in their new facility.

The business will also be able to consolidate all of its operations into one facility.

“Everyday we want to get better.  We want to do a better job for our customers,” Miller said. Miller added he expects the move to increase sales by 20 to 25 percent.

The Clinton Auto Group has been in its current facility at Lincoln Way and South 19th Street since 2007.  Miller said they have been considering the move since 2009.

“We knew we had to do it sometime,” Miller said. Their current facility is 16,000 square feet on 2.5 acres. The new facility will be 26,000 square feet on 6.88 acres. “That store has to spread its wings,” he said.

Miller said he plans to rent the old building initially after the move, but ultimately hopes to sell it.

While Miller said there won’t initially be job growth to staff the new facility, he was proud to use local businesses for the expansion.

The move is being financed by Clinton National Bank, and Clinton Engineering will be involved in the construction.

“I’m excited. It’s a very expensive project so I’m measured in my excitement, but it’s going to be great for Clinton,” he said.

The Clinton Auto Group will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 9, where they will reveal the plans for the new dealership, including floor plans and aerial views as well as offer car-care clinics and test drives of the new 2013 Nissan Altima.
