Buffalo Bill, Oakley photos grab top bid

A record number of tables were set up for the auction on April 12.

There were 54 tables of merchandise plus several card tables had to be set up to display everything. About 200 people showed up for the auction. We concluded the auction in just less than four hours.

Some fancy aprons went out at $15 and the first choice of blankets sold for $30. Two small assortments of linens sold for a total of $50. There were a lot of sewing notions and fabrics with three groups selling for $52.50.

A coffee table sold for $20 and the end table for $10. A child’s doll house went to a new home for $25 and it took another $20 to buy the doll furniture. A wood table with chairs captured a $45 bid and the antique floor lamp lit up a bid of $57.50.

Two small school desks brought in $30. A group of books sold for the bid of $22.50 with others selling from $2 to $12.50. One large group of rocks, all polished, caught the eye of one bidder and the final bid total was $63.

A small metal Budda sold for $22.50. A chair and drum table was knocked off for $70. The highlight of the auction and the top bid of the day went to the exposition cards with pictures of Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley for the top price of $975.

Two strong bidders were trying to capture this prize and silence came as the bid went more than $500, $600, $700, $800, $900 and finally fair warning as the hammer fell on the top bid of $975.

Our May auction is just around the corner and there are many interesting and unique items that will be displayed.
