"In an ideal world is that the ideal way you put it together," Davisson asked. She wondered if it is safe to have the jail and communications together.
Lincoln felt the two departments work well together. He said that a storm knocked out communications the other day and the jail staff helped during the incident. He also pointed out that it was a communications employee who first noticed prisoners leaving the facility in a recent escape.
The CCJCC will continue working on the RFP for the project.
A request for proposal for a jail needs assessment and consulting services was issued April 26, with a deadline for submission of questions set for May 17. Responses will be due at 4 p.m. May 31. The short-listed firms will be selected and notified on June 28, with interviews on July 17. Contract negotiation with the top-ranked firm is expected to run between July 25 and July 31, with the contract being awarded on Aug. 5.
