Meeting Watch: Board of Supervisors

CLINTON — The Clinton County Board of Supervisors met Monday in the County Administration Building. The following occurred:

• The board approved the re-appointment of Earl Burken as its representative on the Clinton County Board of Adjustment for a five-year term, expiring May 1, 2019.

• The board authorized Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln to sign a Bulger’s Hollow agreement for the 2014 camping season.

• The appointment of Ryan Rodriguez as a temporary part-time employee in the Building Maintenance Department was approved at a rate of $12 per hour. He will work no more than 24 hours per week between May 5 and Aug. 1.

• A budget amendment hearing was set for 10 a.m. on May 12.

• The board set a public hearing at 10 a.m. May 19 on the proposed construction permit application from Matthew Mommsen for a confinement feeding operation.

• Clinton County Attorney Mike Wolf announced the employment of James McHugh as a full-time assistant attorney, effective May 19. McHugh will fill the opening left vacant by the recent resignation of Adam Blank. McHugh’s salary is established at $47,000, with a $3,000 increase on July 1.

• The board proclaimed May as Methamphetamine Awareness Month.

• Supervisor John Staszewski made a motion to authorize the purchase of an automated external defibrillator for the Clinton County DeWitt satellite building with funds from the Risk Management budget, not to exceed $2,000.

• A public hearing was held on a two-lot subdivision approximately 3.8 miles northwest of Clinton, 4.8 miles southwest of Goose Lake and 2.9 miles southwest of Andover. Planning and Zoning Director Nathan Mueller explained that the property in question is a 75.22 acre farm. The property owner’s son, Scott Lange, wished to plat 5 acres for a residence of his own. No one attended the public hearing and no public comment was offered. The board authorized Chairwoman Jill Davisson to sign the final plat.
