Calendar parking in effect in Clinton

CLINTON — Drivers who’ve been ignoring Clinton’s calendar parking rules are in for a rude awakening this weekend if they continue to brush off the city ordinance.

Those yellow paper warning tickets won’t be making appearances on windshields anymore. They’ll be replaced by orange-colored envelopes that carry actual fines for violating the calendar parking ordinance.

Calendar parking is in effect from Nov. 15 to March 15. For the past two weeks, police have issued warning tickets to those who haven’t followed the rules, but as of Sunday any slips on windshields are the real thing.

Each ticket will cost $15 and will be issued for every violation.

The ordinance, which has been in effect for years, allows the city to clear the streets after a snowfall.

In areas where parking is allowed on both sides of the street, between midnight and 8 a.m., drivers are required to park on the even side of the street on even dates and the odd side of the street on odd dates.

Parking is not allowed on streets on a snow route or during a snow emergency until the snow has stopped.
