MEET YOUR NEIGHBORS: D.J. and Daylan Ludemann

CLINTON – Daylan Ludemann, 20, and his brother David Joshua (D.J.) Ludemann, 16, were given an opportunity that many of their fellow peers will never get to experience.

In January, the brothers, with their martial arts team, performed a Tae Kwon Do routine for producers on the hit television show America’s Got Talent, making it through to the Las Vegas round of the competition.

However, after being asked to New York for live taping of the show, conflicting schedules forced the team out of competition.

“We are supposed to be in New York right now,” Daylan said. “But, unfortunately it just didn’t work out for us.”

The Ludemann boys, born and raised in Clinton, have trained in the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do since they were 3 years old and both are certified black belts —Daylan a third degree and D.J. a second degree.

The brothers are not the only ones in the family practicing the art of Taw Kwon Do, though.

Their dad, David, is also a third-degree black-belt, and their mother, Wanda, is a second-degree black-belt, and all four train at the family’s Tae Kwon Do studio, IMPACT Martial Arts.

“I really enjoy (training) because it is like family bonding time for us,” D.J. said.

Tae Kwon Do is not the only thing keeping the Ludemann boys busy though. D.J. is currently training for the 2013 Clinton High School football season.

“My days mostly consist of weightlifting, school, football practice and Tae Kwon Do training,” D.J. said. “Maybe the river if I have time.”

Daylan, currently studying criminal justice at Clinton Community College, took some time off from school to travel to New York City to pursue an acting and modeling career.

His dream is to take his years of martial arts training, mixed with his acting experience and choreograph fight scenes for Hollywood movies.
