CCDA distributes grants

CLINTON — A total of $400,890 in in grants will be dispersed by the Clinton County Development Association to area organizations and communities.

The CCDA board of directors approved Fund B recommendations Wednesday. Director Matthew Stammeyer, from the selection committee, said they received a nice selection of applications and tried to stretch the funds to support as many projects as possible.

“We spread our monies as far as we could,” Stammeyer said.

The funds vary from $67,500 for a new pumper fire truck for the Welton Volunteer Fire Department, to $25,000 to the city of DeWitt for a new bridge for the Skeffington Memorial Trail, to $1,200 for the Clinton Community Hunter Education Group for youth hunter education.

While the list of grants was approved, Stammeyer said the committee was looking into one of the grants listed. This one will not be officially passed until this issue is resolved. He declined to identify which grant he was talking about, but did confirm the organization is aware of the issue.
