CLINTON — United Way of Clinton County, Iowa is beginning the Fall 2013 Campaign with new and exciting activities planned to lead up to the kickoff/training event Thursday.
The Fall 2013 Campaign Committee, chaired by Travis Flatten, seeks to raise $620,000 to support 21 programs of funded partner agencies. These funded programs work to create lasting change that leads to a good education, a job with an income that supports a family through retirement, and good health for everyone.
Funded partners work hard to provide emergency needs such as food, shelter, utilities and prescriptions, as well as longer-term needs such as youth mentoring, health education, counseling and more so that all individuals and families can become self-sufficient. Local volunteers make decisions on where to allocate funding, scrutinizing fiscal and program information while verifying results are achieved that will make a difference. UWCCI also collaborates with local organizations to make changes to policies and procedures that can impact needed support for those working hard to improve their lives, and hold educational events to raise awareness of needs in our communities.
UWCCI continues to be awarded the United Way WorldWide Annual Membership Certification verifying excellence in fiscal and program management. Ninety-nine percent of all contributions remain in Clinton County, helping where it is needed most. Fundraising and administrative costs are low and well-below accepted limits.
