---- — CLINTON — A Clinton man received suspended jail time for headbutting his brother-in-law.
David A. May Jr., 25, 263 19th Place, pleaded guilty to assault and trespass, causing injury. He was fined $200 for the assault charge and $315 for the trespass charge. He was ordered to serve 240 days in the Clinton County jail, with 206 suspended and credit for 34 days served.
According to court documents, police responded at 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 6. to 2604 N. Fourth St., apartment 236, to a report of a trespass. The homeowner told police that her brother, May, kicked in her door and began assaulting her husband, according to the affidavit. The affidavit continues that officers arriving on the scene heard May saying “I’m gonna kill you man,” and standing close to his brother-in-law.
May told officers that he had heard the victim had assaulted his 12-year-old nephew and went to confront him, according to the affidavit. May’s sister and brother-in-law confirmed that he called them earlier, about the issue. The victim added that May headbutted him in the face.
May must complete 12 months of probation.
