CLINTON — A trial date is set for the owner of two pit bulls in connection with a July 2 attack on a Clinton man.
Ryan K. Blume, 215 16th Place, faces two counts each of having a dangerous dog, allowing a dog to run at large, no proof of rabies vaccination and no proof of city license. A bench trial will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 12. He faces fines and possible jail time if convicted.
The two dogs attacked Benjamin Nave, 31, 716 S. Sixth St., in the 200 block of 16th Place as he walked from a friend’s house to Hy-Vee. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he required several surgeries on both arms before being released.
Charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued against Blume a week after the attack. He turned himself in at the Clinton County Jail on July 17.
