Marsha Smith, director of the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau, will retire at the end of this year after nearly two years of service.
Smith served as chairwoman of the CVB board and then as interim director until being named the permanent director in 2011. Before being named director, Smith was employed with Abstract and Title Guaranty Company until she retired in 2007 after 23 years with the company.
As CVB director, Smith oversaw Tractorcade and the ending of RAGBRAI this summer. Smith also was instrumental in bringing a number of other conventions and bus tours to Clinton during her tenure.
“Marsha is a consummate professional. Her positivity, people skills and genuine love of Clinton and the surrounding area made her the ideal CVB director. While we will miss her during her well-deserved retirement, we look forward to many more years of having her and her family here in Clinton,” Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Nathan Sondgeroth said.
Smith’s last day will be Dec. 31.
The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will be accepting applications for the vacant position until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.
