CLINTON — A police standoff ended after three hours Wednesday night. Clinton police officers attempted to serve a warrant for probation violation to Nicholas J. Fox, 34, at 5 p.m. at 1833 27th Ave. South.
According to a press release, officers arriving at the scene learned Fox was inside and entered the residence. After learning Fox could be armed, officers retreated and evacuated several nearby residences, as a precautionary measure. Additional law enforcement officers, including members of the Gateway Area Hazardous Entry and Approach Team and the Gateway Area Crisis Negotiations Team, responded to the scene.
Fox surrendered and was taken into custody and booked into the Clinton County Jail. He is currently being held on a $5,000 bond for probation violation. Assisting at the scene was Camanche police, Fulton police, the clinton County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol, Clinton County Communications, Clinton County Emergency Management and the Clinton Fire Department.
