SALEM, N.H. — A child trying to be helpful probably didn't realize handing a police officer an open bottle of Pinot Grigio would get mom in trouble.
“I think this is why mommy is so sleepy," the child said, according to police who arrested Gina Suliveras, 39, of Windham, N.H., and charged her with driving under the influence with her three children in the car.
Suliveras was arrested Tuesday night outside a gym, where a witness had reported a drunk woman trying to drive away with her children, said Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten.
Suliveras told an officer she hoped he got shot and died, said Patten. Then the registered nurse said if the officer, his wife or children were ever treated at the hospital where she works, she would kill him and his family, Patten said.
Suliveras failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, said Patten. The children — ages 9, 6, and 4 — were released to a relative at the scene.
Suliveras was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal threatening and violating the open container law. She was released on $500 personal recognizance bail pending her arraignment, Patten said.
