CLINTON — A Stepping On workshop will begin in February at Mercy Medical Center South.
Stepping On consists of a workshop that meets for two hours a week for seven weeks. Workshops are led by two health professionals and a peer leader. Local guests will also provide expert information on exercise, vision, safety, and medications.
The program is designed for anyone who is 65 years or older, has fallen in the past year or is fearful of falling, Mercy’s Community Health and Wellness Coordinator Andrea Barnett said.
“This program is a fun and simple way that people can gain strength, balance, and get their confidence back. We will teach them ways to keep from falling both in and out of their homes and what to look for in safe footwear,” Barnett said. “Medication can also contribute to falls.”
The next workshop begins Feb. 6 and runs until March 20. Workshops will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Tuesday at Mercy South Campus Therapy Center. For more information or to sign up, call 244-3580.
