CLINTON — Officers from the Gateway area, the CPAA, Clinton County Communications and the Clinton County Attorney’s Office will host the 10th annual Shop with Cops program next month.
This program was created to help make Christmas a little brighter for children who may not otherwise get to enjoy Christmas. Students from Camanche, Clinton, Northeast and Fulton, Illinois, will be in attendance.
Those volunteering will meet at Clinton Middle School at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Officers will then be paired up with a child, and will accompany their child on a bus to Walmart. Each child will have a predetermined amount of money (donated by numerous charities) to spend on Christmas gifts for themselves or gifts for their family members.
Officers will help each child shop for less than an hour, and then return to Clinton Middle School to help the children wrap their gifts. During the gift wrapping, participants will enjoy a pizza party and a visit from Santa.
The children participating in this year’s event are selected by staff from their school district.
