SAVANNA. ILL. — The West Carroll FFA Varsity Agronomy team consisting of Emma Aljets, Shae Williams, Cory Simpson, Abbigail Law and Ethan Reiland placed second at the Section 1 FFA Agronomy Career Development Event on Nov. 27 at Eastland High School. The team scored 866 points.
The contest consisted of identifying 25 weeds from slides, identifying 25 crop seeds, judging rings of corn, oats, soybeans and corn silage, identifying insects, naming common machines use in agronomy and taking a agronomy test as a tie-breaker.
Individually, West Carroll placed two members in the top 10. Reiland placed third with a score of 300 and Aljets placed ninth with a score of 292.
