Four River Queens earn all-conference recognition

CLINTON — The Clinton River Queens had four players honored as the Mississippi Athletic Conference announced its all-conference girls basketball selections.

Senior point guard Whitney Miller and senior center Carly Green were named to the second team. Miller repeated as a second team selection while averaging nine points, six rebounds and three assists per game.

Green was selected to the second team while leading the River Queens with 11 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Senior shooting guard Ellen Russell was named to the third team for efforts. Russell averaged seven points and three rebounds per game while usually defending the opposition’s top offensive threat.

Senior Mollie Enwright garnered honorable mention for the second year in a row. Enwright, a 3-point specialist, averaged seven points and four rebounds per game.

Undefeated conference and Class 2A state champion Davenport Assumption swept league honors as senior Annie Smith was tabbed as player of the year and Camanche native and former Preston coach Todd Borrison was named the league’s top coach.
