Central DeWitt's Smith receives all-state mention

CLINTON — Central DeWitt freshman Lindsay Smith has been selected to the Iowa Newspaper Association’s (INA) Class 3A third team for her play this season.

The 5 foot 9 utility player averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game for the Sabers.

Big East Conference MVP Kalli Hansen was selected to the first team in Class 1A. The Olin senior averaged 21.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

The Mississippi Athletic Conference was well represented as Class 2A undefeated state champion Davenport Assumption placed one on the first team and two on the second team.

Senior Lauren Lybbert was named to the first team, while conference MVP Annie Smith and Gabbie Binion were selected to the second team.

Muscatine senior Danielle Wozney made the Class 4A second team and Davenport North sophomore Amber Harrington was tabbed for the third team.

The INA named Southeast Webster’s Jennifer Jorgensen as Iowa’s “Miss Basketball”. The 5 foot 11 senior led the state in scoring and assists with 30.4 point and 8.9 assist per game averages.

Jorgensen finished as the state’s second all-time leading scorer with 2,708 points. The three-time first team all-stater also ranks fourth all-time with 1,184 rebounds and fifth all-time with 621 assists.
