Hudson woman is injured in Jeep accident
LONDONDERRY — A Hudson woman, flown by helicopter to a Boston hospital, may have been impaired when she crashed her Jeep into the woods off Mammoth Road Thursday afternoon, police said.
Cynthia Bergeron, 38, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with serious injuries after the 2:30 p.m. crash. She was listed in stable condition last night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
"The accident remains under investigation but information from investigators, including witness accounts, suggests that speed and driver impairment may be contributing factors," Londonderry police Lt. Scott Saunders said.
Londonderry firefighters found the silver 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee on its side near 146 Mammoth Road with Bergeron trapped inside.
The Jeep, which had been traveling south on Mammoth Road, hit three trees, one of them large, and rolled over, fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie said.
Emergency personnel jacked up the Jeep, cut away its roof, and freed Bergeron.
They then transported her by ambulance to South Elementary School. A helicopter arrived about 3:30 p.m. and flew her to Beth Israel, the fire chief said.
MacCaffrie said Bergeron was semiconscious and appeared to have "a fairly serious head injury."
The vehicle traveled a considerable distance into the woods, he said.
Daprato sentenced to prison for gun incident
LONDONDERRY — Derek Daprato was convicted this week of pointing a gun at passing motorists on June 11, 2008 on Route 93. The gun was a .38 caliber handgun that was loaded at the time he threatened other drivers on the roadway as his sister drove him home to his mothers house on Tanager Way in Londonderry.
Daprato had no permit for the gun, the serial number had been filled off, and he had 3 past felony convictions in Massachusetts. While the judges did punish him with a additional 3 1/2 to 7 years because of this it was suspended for 10 years after he is released if he has good behavior.
At the time of his arrest, he was out on bail for leading Hudson and Londonderry Police on a high speed chase that included the use of spike strips in a attempt to stop him. In that case he denied involvement. A court order for the GPS in his vehicle at the home proved the erratic path after he fled from a Hudson Police stop.
