As history is being made, let us move forward as one

We are witnesses to history being made.

Yes, that’s true whenever Inauguration Day rolls around.

It’s a time of celebration, to delight in the pomp and circumstance of our nation and revel in the 233-year history of this great country.

But this inauguration will mark so much more as Barack Obama, our soon-to-be 44th president, will also become our first black president.

There is rejoicing among those who never thought this day would come.

And now it is here.

For all of us, it signifies a oneness, that maybe, just maybe, we are making choices based on who people are on the inside and for what they truly represent, not for who we judge them to be; that we as a nation — black, white, Christian, Jew, Muslim — our forging ahead as “the United States of America,” not as a nation only for those of a certain race or creed.

It is time for that to happen.

And that time has come.
