Remember New Hope in your prayers

There are times in life when a devastating setback occurs, illness, injuries and accidents among them. If a roster of such setbacks is compiled, it would no doubt include the devastation caused by a fire.

A large fire two weekends ago had a major impact on New Hope Lutheran Church in Clinton. On Jan. 10, the church was destroyed by a blaze that appears to have ripped through the sanctuary.

The fire currently is under investigation by the Clinton Fire Department, the state fire marshal's office and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

In the days since that time no doubt parishioners have had to deal with emotions of loss — how could they not when you consider that so many of life’s milestones are celebrated and observed there?

Along with the loss also can be a sense of confusion —a sense of “what now.”

In this case, the congregation is able to move forward and is worshipping together at First United Presbyterian Church.

We also have heard that many have extended offers of assistance to the church, which is now working to put the pieces back together.

Our hearts go out to the congregants and the church’s leaders, and we look forward with hope that the church’s desire to move forward together will be realized.
