CLINTON — The Clinton School District recently held two parent math education nights at Eagle Heights Elementary School.
There were approximately 350 parents and students as well as 35 Eagle Heights staff members who attended these two sessions. The purpose of the two nights was to help explain the math approach that is presently being learned by students as a part of the Iowa Core.
Kristi Cooley, Clinton School District math coach, facilitated the two evenings. Cooley gave a brief background about the Iowa Math Core standards and the framework in which the district delivers those standards called CGI, Cognitive Guided Instruction.
After giving this overview, Cooley had students show their parents how different problems can be broken up and solved.
