Jet father dies after truck goes into creek

— A Jet man died Thursday after his pickup went off an Alfalfa County road into a creek and he was trapped in six feet of water.
Jack Steven Bennett, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. He had been pinned in the wreck for nearly four hours.
The accident happened at 4:50 p.m. two miles north and one-half mile east of Goltry on a county road, according to the report.
A passenger, Bennett’s 9-year-old son Cody Jack Bennett, was taken to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center for observation, according to the report. He was released with no injuries.
According to the report, Bennett was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup east on the county road when he crossed the road and hit a concrete bridge banister. The pickup rolled off the bridge into a creek bottom, coming to rest on its top, according to the report.
The boy crawled out of the pickup and went for help, according to the report. Bennett was pinned under water for about three hours and 45 minutes.
The cause of the accident was unknown, according to the report.
