Basketball tournament is slated for this week

The fifth- and sixth-grade basketball teams will participate in the basketball tournament at Pond Creek-Hunter on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The fifth- through eighth-grade basketball teams will host Kremlin with games starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Covington-Douglas FFA and 4-H students participated in the livestock show at the Tulsa State Fair Oct. 3-10. Results were: Market Swine: Bryon Rupp, Chester 15th; Gavyn Reim, Crossbred, 6th, Duroc, 4th; Brandon Wright and Lane Wilhite exhibited. Gilts: Open: Dakota Schoeling, Chester, 4th, Junior Show: Chester, 4th.; Quenten Thayer, Open: Duroc, 8th, Commercial: exhibited, Junior Show: Duroc, exhibited, Junior Commercial, 5th.; Zach Finlayson, Open: Yorkshire, 4th, Junior Show, Yorkshire, 5th.

Home and School Club met Nov. 3 at Tri County Senior Center for lunch. Pat Powers won the hostess gift. Each member brought non-perishable food for the local food pantry. Members attending included Maidee LeForce, Irene Reinhardt, Zoe Bolz, Sherrie Brooks, Lovella Pattrick, Pat Powers, Linda Beck and Sharoll Kegin. The next meeting will be a Christmas party Dec. 8 at the home of Sherrie Brooks.

Church

Covington United Methodist youth meet at 6:30 p.m. each Sunday at the church.

The United Methodist Women met Nov. 4 at the home of Iris Henderson.

A Thanksgiving Dinner will be held today at United Methodist following the morning worship service. The administrative council will meet after the dinner.

The Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Class at St John's meets at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with a study in Proverbs.

The Church Council will meet today at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

The Fifth Sunday Sing will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

First Baptist Church will host guest speaker, Rob Lee, today during the morning worship service. Rob Lee is the Utah-Idaho Baptist Executive Director of the Baptist Convention. Following the service, the missions committee will be serving a free spaghetti dinner in the fellowship hall.

The Journey of First Baptist Church traveled to Oakwood Christian Church of Enid on Oct. 28 to hear Chris Sly and Arron Scheus in concert.
