Claude 'Dee' DeVilbiss

The graveside service for Claude “Dee” DeVilbiss, 87, formerly of Woodward, will be 10 a.m. today, Nov. 6, 2009, in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Jackson will officiate. Arr-angements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
He was born July 1, 1922, in Alva to Claude and Edith Vance DeVilbiss and died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Golden Oaks Nursing Home.
He served in Army Air Corps during World War II from Oct. 31, 1942, to Nov. 6, 1945.
He married Alice Loretta Shelite Aug. 13, 1943, in Alva. They lived in Dodge City, Kan. They lived in California from 1946 to 1947, moving to Alva and then Woodward in the early 1950s. He worked for Young Furniture and Sooner Furniture before opening Parkview Furniture Gallery. After retirement, they lived in Pagosa Springs, Colo., from 1988 to 1989. They moved back to Oklahoma, living in Tulsa and Enid. She died Dec. 9, 2004.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Woodward VFW Post 1335, American Legion Post 19, Woodward Elks Lodge and Woodward Masonic Lodge 189.
Surviving are two daughters, Mickey Armstrong of Woodward and Francine Reid of Tulsa; one brother, Lee DeVilbiss of Utah; one sister, Betty Duncan of California; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Alice, he was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
