FULTON, Ill. — Legacy, a Christian rock and worship band based out of Fulton, will be in concert at Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park St., parking lot at 7 p.m. July 12. Helping Open People’s Eyes 4 KIDS is an outreach created by Legacy designed to collect backpacks filled with school supplies for area kindergarten through fifth-grade students.
The concert kicks off its mission for 2009. Admission to this outdoor concert is a donation of school supplies. Attendees can bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside.
In August, once everything is collected, Legacy will call out to its fans and friends to help pack the backpacks. Last year, Legacy and volunteers packed and delivered 275 backpacks. This year the goal is 400 backpacks.
After the concert, the drive to collect school supplies continues through Aug. 10. Legacy is asking the community to gather school supplies and bring them to the designated drop-off points. Monetary donations can be made at Community State banks in Fulton, Morrison and Rock Falls, Ill.; The National Bank in Mount Carroll and Savanna, Ill.; or online.
To get involved, go to www.wix.com/legacymusic/hope-mission-316 for more information, e-mail hopemission316@yahoo.com or call (815) 499-6538. Everything collected will be delivered to area schools per the administration’s request.
