FULTON, Ill. —
Bandits will take Heritage Canyon hostage Saturday for a day of family fun.
Big Bend Bandits will preform their Wild West Show at the Canyon, 515 N. Fourth St., for the first time this year.
“It’s a fun brand new event for the whole family,” caretaker Brian Tomman said.
The group of performers from throughout the area have performed together for 12 years. Family friendly western comedy is what the more than 30 bandits strive to provide. A different skit will be performed every hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday with the final skit at 3 p.m. providing a review of all the previous acts. Highlights include a bank robbery, three amigos and a shotgun wedding.
Big Bend Bandits banded together in 1998 with a love of horses, gun club and everything western. The group has entertained at many events throughout the area including weddings, church events and horse shows. Reenactments, game booths and chuckwagons are among the other services they offer.
“We all share a love of the western world,” member Kathy Pollock said. “We used to mainly do reenactments, but decided to do more fun and entertaining skits for the whole family.”
Early American Crafters will be on hand at the event providing ice cream, maid rites, hot dogs, water and lemonade at the Ice Cream parlor. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
