• The 2nd District of The American Legion of Iowa will host their annual Spring Conference at 9 a.m. The 2nd District Spring Conference is being hosted by June Van Meter Post 190 of Clinton. Legion and Auxiliary members will meet at the Wild Rose Casino and Resort. Speakers will include the state commander Lyle Schaffer. Other speakers will talk about the progress made on legislative, community and children/youth programs.

A ceremony honoring departed veterans will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the flag pole and honor bricks in front of the Wild Rose Casino. Prayers will be offered and a salute fired.

“The American Legion of Iowa, over 55,000 members strong, is divided into nine districts throughout the state,” said Schaffer, of Galva. “Aside from the state convention, this is one of the most important meetings our members can attend, as each Legion Post in the District has the opportunity to gather fresh ideas, and new information to bring back to their community.”
