Things to do

The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Liz Srp, Assistant Attorney General, Child Support Recovery Unit. Others featured in the program include Rebecca K., YWCA Community Educator / Sexual Assault Advocate, Vocalist Steven Powell, and Accompanist Nancy Schmidt. Refreshments will be served following the program.

“Take Back The Night’s supporters have always understood the power of speaking out,” said YWCA Sexual Assault Advocate Rebecca K. “Survivors of sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, and sexual abuse show their strength and courage by speaking out so others will know they are not alone and that these crimes will not be tolerated, and they will not be silent any longer. Together, we can work toward eliminating sexual violence and empowering survivors.”

Throughout its history, Take Back the Night rallies have inspired both men and women to confront a myriad of social ills including sexual violence, violence against children, elder abuse, and domestic violence. The unifying theme throughout these diverse topics is the assertion that all human beings have the right to be free from violence, the right to be heard, and the right to reclaim those rights if they have been violated.

For more information on the “Take Back the Night” event, visit the YWCA website at, or call Rebecca at 242-2118, 402.
