CAMANCHE — The Camanche Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting its Annual Door to Door drive for Muscular Dystrophy on Wednesday, Aug. 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and going until dark.
This will be the final phase of the MDA fundraising efforts for the year. Any residents who we are unable to make contact with will be left with an envelope and can send a donation for MDA to Camanche Fire Department, Box 77, Camanche, Iowa 52730.
The Camanche Fire Department has been raising money for MDA since 1957.
In 1979 the department began its annual pancake breakfast.
Over the years it has raised more than $245,000 total for MDA. The goal this year is to raise $12,000.
“We are very proud to join firefighters across the nation in raising money for this great cause,” said Fire Chief Dave Schutte. “This community provides support to this cause that is second to none. The town of Camanche raises more money per capita for MDA than anywhere in the state of Iowa.
We would like to thank the community in advance for their support of this and all of our fund-raising efforts this year.”
