CLINTON — The Sisters of St. Francis and Zion Lutheran Church will co-sponsor the annual Peace Concert.
The purpose of this concert is to bring together choirs and instrumentalists from area faith communities.
This year’s ecumenical Peace Concert “Peace and Remembrance” will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 439 Third Ave. South at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27.
The concert is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Five area congregations will participate in this year’s concert: St. Paul Lutheran, Clinton (bells and choir); Community Children’s Choir (sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran); Holy Trinity Lutheran in Dubuque; Church of the Open Door, Clinton; Prince of Peace/Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton and Zion Lutheran, Clinton (bells and choir).
The mass choir, made up of all the participating choirs, will be directed by Brian Burns. Burns currently serves as an assistant professor of music at Clarke University, in Dubuque. He directs the Clarke Collegiate Singers, Cantabile, and the Clarke Schola (a chamber ensemble he founded in fall 2011) and teaches courses in conducting, music education, music history, and music theory.
