---- — CLINTON — Fareway Meat Department Manager Jim Smith said that in a few weeks, customers will find a wider selection of refrigerated and frozen items at the store.
For the past two weeks, a Fareway corporate construction crew has been renovating a section of the store, transforming storage space into two or three additional aisles of freezers and refrigeration units. The produce section will also see additional space.
““The customers were wanting more of those types of items: refrigerator, freezer,” Smith said. “They’re looking for the change.”
Thursday afternoon, Eric Smith and other members of the construction crew could be seen assembling a beer pre-cooler in the back of the store. He explained beer coming off 90-degree trucks will be placed in this cooler before moving to a refrigerated unit in the store.
Construction is expected to be completed by April 1. Jim Smith is unsure what, if any, celebration will be held once the new area is stocked and ready for customers.
“We haven’t got that far yet,” Smith said.
