Taxi service gets new owner

(Continued)

It can take anywhere from two to three weeks for a driver to become certified to operate a taxi but Coppess said that assures him and his customers that only trained and experienced professionals will be a part of the On The Go Too team.

“My drivers are highly experienced,” Coppess said. “Collectively we have more than 20 years worth of experience between us.”

A second taxi will be available in April once the van is equipped with a fare meter and is properly insured and certified.

“We’ve had to turn down a lot of riders because we just can’t keep up with all of them,” Coppess said. “We hate telling people no so getting this second taxi is the best thing we could ask for.”

On The Go Too accepts riders of all ages from the hours of 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., charging $6 for the first 3 miles and an additional $2 for every subsequent mile. Coppess hopes he can make On The Go Too Clinton’s longstanding taxi service.
