FULTON, Ill. — Fulton High School’s thespian troupe will present Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman’s “You Can’t Take It With You” this week.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Fulton High School west auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. This three-act comedy played for nearly 900 performances after it first opened.
The story centers around the Sycamore and the Kirby families. The Sycamores believe in living life to its fullest by doing whatever one enjoys. The Kirbys, on the other hand, are greedy and think that work and money are what matters. Alice Sycamore works for the Kirby Company and falls in love with Tony, the son of the boss. Although she has fears that a marriage would not succeed because the two families are so different, she invites the Kirbys for dinner so that the two families might meet.
Alice makes elaborate preparations so that everything will be just right when the Kirbys visit. However, the Kirbys arrive a night early and Alice’s worst fears are realized.
