The search committee, consisting of Claudia Clarkson, Heather Farwell, Christine Grant, Nancy Houzenga, Mardell Mommsen, Patti Robinson, Tracy Reynolds, David Sivright and Nathan Sondgeroth, narrowed down the search to Sander-Welzien.

Sander-Welzien received her undergraduate degree in business/marketing from the University of Northern Iowa, with a minor in Women Studies. A life-long resident of Clinton, she began her affiliation with the YWCA as a certified fitness instructor and member of the Marketing committee and Health and Wellness committee in 2005.

“I am truly honored to be selected, and to be a part of the history of the YWCA, a long line of women that have made this organization a viable, respected organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice freedom and dignity for all,” Sander-Welzien said. “We have a great team of staff and board members.”
