The search committee, consisting of Claudia Clarkson, Heather Farwell, Christine Grant, Nancy Houzenga, Mardell Mommsen, Patti Robinson, Tracy Reynolds, David Sivright and Nathan Sondgeroth, narrowed down the search to Sander-Welzien.

YWCA Board of Directors Co-President Jennifer Graf said Sander-Welzien rose to the top through an exhaustive nationwide search.

“We are excited to see the new direction and perspective she will bring, while assuring our membership needs are met and exceeded,” Graf said.

Sander-Welzien received her undergraduate degree in business/marketing from the University of Northern Iowa, with a minor in Women Studies. A life-long resident of Clinton, she began her affiliation with the YWCA as a certified fitness instructor and member of the Marketing committee and Health and Wellness committee in 2005.

“I am truly honored to be selected, and to be a part of the history of the YWCA, a long line of women that have made this organization a viable, respected organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice freedom and dignity for all,” Sander-Welzien said. “We have a great team of staff and board members.”
