Get ready to write your novel

NaNoWriMo Launch Party. The NaNoWriMo launch party will be today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This will be an informal “Meet and Greet” so you can get to know your fellow NaNo-ers and maybe do some last minute brainstorming before you start your novel on Nov. 1.

Iowans Who Fought Against the Union. Most Iowans think that the state was solidly pro-Union during the Civil War. In reality, at least 67 Iowa residents served the Confederacy. This talk will focus on five of them, including two who had lived in Clinton County. David Connon will explore their motivations and describe their pre-war, war-time, and post-war experiences on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. in the children’s non-fiction room at the main library. Program made possible by a grant from Humanities Iowa.

Internet Research for Writers. Need help with research? On Monday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. in the children’s non-fiction room at the main library, I will offer a class called “Internet Research for Writers.” As your instructor, my mission is to help you get the most out of your search engine.

NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month Write-Ins. Clinton area writers, get ready! November is NaNoWriMo! National Novel Writing Month is when writers tackle the challenge of completing a 50,000-word novel from scratch during the month of November.
