• Folks who visit the new Mississippi River Eco Tourism Center at Rock Creek Marina & Campground are always asking, “When do you feed the fish? When do you clean the tank?” We typically feed the fish every Monday, Wednesday and Friday over the lunch hour. Cleaning the tank is usually not a scheduled event. This Friday at 10:30 a.m. will be one of the only times people will be able to come out to the Center and see workers deep clean the 8,000-gallon aquarium. One of the park rangers will don a wetsuit and air tank and then will enter the aquarium to give it a super cleaning. It is interesting to watch the fish react to the movements of the scuba diver. Workers also will be talking about the tank, how it was installed, what species are in the tank as well as feeding the fish minnows during the presentation. Addtionally, visitors will be able to view the State Records Fish Replica Collection and get a sneak peak at the 360 degree mural in the Nature Gallery as it nears completion.
