CLINTON — The Clinton County Auditor’s office will close Wednesday in honor of former Auditor Charles Sheridan.

Sheridan, 71, died Saturday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus after being recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 16550 290th Street, Long Grove, with burial in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Auditor Eric Van Lancker will close his office Wednesday to allow staff to attend the service. Sheridan served the county as auditor for 20 years, retiring in 2008.

He was a long-time member of the Clinton County Democratic Party and recently worked on Rita Hart’s election to the Iowa Senate.
