---- — GOOSE LAKE — Voters in the Northeast School District elected two people with previous experience on to the board of education.
“I guess experience won,” candidate Erin Meyermann said.
Meyermann lost the election with 79 votes, approximately 22.6 percent of the votes. Current board member Andy Friedrichsen and former member Mary Smith were elected by the voters. According to the unofficial numbers, Friedrichsen received 152 or 43.5 percent of the votes and Smith received 118 or 22.81 percent.
“I’m honored to be part of a good school district and a progressive school board,” Friedrichsen said.
He had just hung up from speaking to Superintendent Jim Cox and said he was still “taking it in.” Smith also was excited, saying that she is looking forward to serving on the board.
While disappointed by not winning, Meyermann said that all things happen for a reason. She is unsure if she will run again in two years.
