---- — CLINTON — A flash mob is being planned this week for the Clinton High School boys and girls basketball games.

Tricia Petersen, mother of two Clinton High School athletes, is organizing the event Friday for the girls and boys games starting at 6 p.m. at Yourd Gymnasium. She hopes to see a crowded gymnasium, full of people in their Clinton Crazies neon shirts or any neon/white shirts.

She is asking for everyone to come out for the games and the flash mob.

“We would love the whole community to be involved,” Petersen said. “Just trying to get the kids more involved and trying to build the school spirit.”

Petersen was inspired to hold a flash mob during Friday’s basketball games after someone on Twitter dared eastern Iowa schools to recreate a flash mob. She began recruiting people and is still looking for more to participate.

Those interested in joining can visit the Clinton Iowa Flash Mob 2013 Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/events/ 515017358606485/ to learn the three different dance routines/cheers. The routines will be performed at the games when the music starts playing during time outs and halftime. A practice will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ericksen Community Center.

As part of the event, those attending the games will be asked to donate $2. The money raised will be split between the boys and girls teams. For more information, contact Petersen at (563) 219-0369.

“This is a random act of kindness that will help build and support not only our programs but the community,” Petersen said.
