CCC to celebrate Constitution Day

CLINTON — Clinton Community College will be celebrating Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the CCC Auditorium.

A ‘Tribute to our Soldiers’ will be held at noon with Bill Hall playing his trumpet.

Several military organizations will be on campus to share information about their organization and how they impact congressional actions regarding military and veterans’ rights and benefits. Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, AMVETS, Vietnam Veterans Association, Clinton County Veteran Affairs, Vietnam Veterans Association, Marine Corp League, Patriot Riders and Student Veterans Association.

The Wall of Honor is but a small tribute to honor, respect and remember the many sacrifices our nation’s men and women endure while serving in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Cost Guard and National Guard. This permanent display contains a plaque listing the name, branch of service, and service dates for all active duty and veteran students, faculty and alumni of Clinton Community College. All former students and Clinton Community College alumni are invited to be included on the Wall of Honor. Please contact Mardell Mommsen at mmommsen@eicc.edu or Glenn Williams at gwilliams@eicc.edu or 244-7001 for more information.

In September of 2004, Congress passed and President Bush signed a bill that authorized federal funding for the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies. Included in this bill was a provision that colleges and universities that receive federal funding to provide an educational program on the U.S. Constitution to their currently enrolled students on the anniversary of the Constitution’s original signing on Sept. 17 of each year.
